The idea was to be able to make up a complete new texture strip and not be stuck with both the existing one AND the set of coords that come with any existing level.

Personnaly I would make a set of independant tiles (256x256) one for Lara, one of all sprites, another for the enemies and so on, and prepare lists of coords that would go with each of them. Imagine being able to make-over Lara with a *one-tile change*...
