yes,
it was a 1000+ polygon mesh of Lara's torso.
very smooth & catches the lights and shadows
quite nicely in the TR3 levels...("Phong
rendering" in 3D Studio Max)..
so, added another tex page to the level &
used that one to UV map a new .bmp onto her.
it's naughty yes, but not lewd.

I ask because I want to know how it works w/ a lot of polygons more than used by Core.

TR3 is the only engine I've used on these "addin a new mesh?" gig.
it works fine...some common sense guidlines...

the new add in model shouldn't be so "drasticly different"
that the model's bounding "box" is changed...
it'll just run funky in the game; crashing into everything;
but, if you're aware of this, you can adjust the new
bounding box, too...

& you have to properly "supply" the textures for your
new "add in mesh" ...don't expect a Tiger to show in Nevada if
his .bmps are still back at the "Temple.tr2" ..

so, it's easier to add a page, and then UV map new Tiger.bmps
to the mesh...

these "surrogate models" ..
take the *role* of an existing game model...
yet, they're not dependant on their textures...

and, when building/"aligning" a new mesh...
I always use the original as a size/shape guideline..
this way, in Max, I can see where the meshes "pivot point"
is..this is used in the IK routine(that is, it helps
link arms to a torso so that they bend properly when an
animation is created from this model)

when done, I zap the original out of there, leaving the
new mesh & all *same data* for the pivots & links...

I'm not that clever at it.

: (Just started with our catalog, and TRViewer is really a big help. I took screenshots to paste in, because itīs hard to describe all those little guys in a few words. Beyond that I did a skeleton model - ok, parts of it so far - for one of the natives in shore level)

ok, so how does Mr.Bones run in the Shore.tr2?
(that would be a gas!)
