ok, so perhaps I was a little hasty w/ re-modeled
3D Max Lara...see the 2 pics.

You know, I think that huge .bmp that I'm using is causing
this much better model to "lock" the game.

I mapped her in "cylinder" UV mapping;
probably a 64 X 64 sized .bmp would still
be good enough for resolution.

Anyways, no prob w/ the "planar" UV mapping;
however, the funky is that she has the same
on her backside(groan)it's a little to bizzare
to be showing here...
So, I'll experiment some more, maybe ask Evgeni
what I might be doing wrong..
